Motorola Devour and MotoBlur

Motorola Devour with MotoBlur

The Motorola Devour featuring MotoBlur

Motorola Devour, MotoBlur, and Social Networking

The Devour will run Motorola’s proprietary social network integration UI, MotoBlur.

On the Devour, MotoBlur will run atop the Android OS.  With the Devour running MotoBlur, all of your friends’ status updates and messages on Facebook, MySpace, and Twitter are automatically pushed to the Motorola Devour’s homescreen.

Thus, with MotoBlur, users of the Devour see these status updates and messages as they are created, in real time.

And with the Devour running MotoBlur, it is unnecessary for the user to login to individual applications for each social network.  This saves time and hassle everyday, and allows the Devour to do more with fewer competing applications.

MotoBlur’s “Happenings Widget”

Friends' Updates listed on MotoBlur's Happenings Widget

MotoBlur’s Happenings widget makes all of this happen on the Devour . That is, the Happenings widget shows messages and status updates on the Devour’s homescreen.

Importantly, the Happenings widget can also be expanded to show a list of many of the most recent status updates, just in case one friend has become status update-happy.

Other MotoBlur Features on the Devour

There are many other features MotoBlur brings to the Devour.

It’s possible to “reach out” to your social networks to download your contacts’ information. Instant messaging screenames, emails, phone numbers—all are aggregated and downloaded to the Devour through MotoBlur once the Devour can link with your social networking profiles.

One of the coolest features of MotoBlur occurs when you get a phone call from a friend.  That friend’s recent status updates are displayed next to the caller’s ID so you can get an idea of how your friend is feeling, or what they could be calling about, before you answer (or ignore) their call.

Photo sharing, GPS tracking and tagging, Google Search, and downloaded apps from the Android Market are all available with MotoBlur, as well.
